When things don’t go the way you imagined

Hello! I’ve just recently been listening to your podcast. I knew about to law of attraction before, but I felt like I needed to refresh on this because for some reason everything is not going as planned.

There’s this promotion at work that I really felt I was going to get and everyone around me (also) knew that I was going to be chosen. And then all of a sudden, when they announced it, it wasn’t me – and it (turned out to be) someone (that) I, and everyone else, didn’t expect. I was so devastated and embarrassed at the same time.

I can easily switch my goals or views when something like this happens. I tried so hard right away to use this situation to go another route for my career; a higher goal.

So now I’m working on this new goal and the main step is to pass an entrance test. I took it the other day and I was devastated again because I didn’t do well, even though I spent every day for the last month studying for it. I will take it again next month but I can only take it 3x in a lifetime.

So because I already used (up) my first one, I am paranoid that I might not do well again the second time, and that I won’t be able to meet my goal next month and (that it) would probably take years before I can reach that goal… if I can’t pass everything next month.

 A lot of people know about my goal since I had to reach out to them to complete my package for this goal. Not sure if you understand what I am talking about, but I’m active duty military and I’m on the enlisted side. To become an officer I have to finish my degree. I’m on my last class this month and I have to pass the test I was talking about.

Everything else was working good and the people I reached out to agreed to help me, but then this test is all me, and I can’t seem to pass it. I really want to reach this goal because I don’t want to leave where I am right now (in) the same rank as when I got here 🙁  It feels like I didn’t accomplish anything with my 3 years here if that’s the case.

I am trying to imagine the paper and the score that I want to get next time I take it, and it’s clear that I can see it, but this happened with the promotion as well. So I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong. I was literally able to see them announcing my promotion and I could feel it at that time, but it didn’t happen so I’m not sure what I have to do for my next goal which is to past the entrance for officer in the military.

Visualising

Hi Scott!

I’m a new follower of your podcast and I wanted to thank you for all the great episodes. I still have not finished all of them so I’m in for a treat =)

I wanted to ask you something. I don’t know if you have heard of this before, but some people cannot visualise things and I am one of them. In my mind I can only think by talking in my head, meaning I only hear a voice. Does that make any sense?

Most people visualise all the time while they are thinking and talking etc, and I did not know this until recently and I feel robbed of possibilities.

At night while I sleep I do dream, and that is the only time that my brain produces images. No matter how much I try to visualise or produce images in my head while I’m awake – I cannot [visualise], not even with my eyes closed. I sometimes feel that THIS is the reason that The Law of Attraction has not worked out for me.

For example, if I am trying to manifest or even think about me in my dream car all I can do in my head is talk, and it sounds a little like this:

“Okay, so a matt black Audi… wow, it looks amazing… it would feel so good driving it… NO, I mean it FEELS good driving it. Wow, what a beautiful day, I’m driving around in my dream car, the sun is shining and I’m on my way to [wherever]…. or should I think about just the car?? COME ON, LEMME SEE AN IMAGE OF ME IN THE CAR, STUPID FUCKING HEAD”

I would be SO happy if you could talk about this in a future episode of your podcast. You have the best ideas and the most positive mind, so I’m sure whatever you say or whatever tips you may have would put my mind at ease.

  • It’s not the first time I’ve received this question, and it’s perfect to address in a podcast episode.

Subject: How do you set a time limit on your manifestations?

Hi Scott!

I’m a huge fan of your podcast. I tell anyone who’ll listen about it and it has so far helped others.

I’m writing to you today because I’m a little lost on saying when I’d like my manifestation to happen. Let me explain.

I’ve manifested many things in my life before I even knew about the Law of Attraction. The biggest things were my wife (down to the detail, not of looks but of traits and personality) and my current job (which I love and I’m thankful for). [For] my wife it took a few months before she appeared in my life, and my current job about a year.

I understand that depending on the complexity of what you’re asking for, [that] could determine how long it could take to happen. Is there though, some sort of time limit we can set or maybe ask for?

Other things I’ve manifested either happened quickly or at least in a short period of time.

Let’s choose a vague example: Say I wanted a car. I know what it looks like, I’ve been to the dealership to see it, and to imagine myself driving it – you know, to help elevate my vibrations. But when manifesting it, can I say I’d like the car in the next 6 months to a year? Or do I have to let it work its way through the Universe?

I’m writing to you today because I’m a little lost on saying when I’d like my manifestation to happen. Let me explain.

I’ve manifested many things in my life before I even knew about the Law of Attraction. The biggest things were my wife (down to the detail, not of looks but of traits and personality) and my current job (which I love and I’m thankful for). [For] my wife it took a few months before she appeared in my life, and my current job about a year.

I understand that depending on the complexity of what you’re asking for, [that] could determine how long it could take to happen. Is there though, some sort of time limit we can set or maybe ask for?

  • Attraction is always happening, like a magnet is always attracting.
  • Your attraction is based on your vibration, and when your vibration shifts your attractions shifts.
  • It doesn’t take time for your attraction to shift, but you are kind of correct that manifestation can depend on complexity.
  • More often than not though, it’s your vibration that is holding back your desires – at least when you are in the mode of learning to direct your vibration.
  • Simple things can come to you quickly, especially if they don’t require other people, circumstances, and events to line up.
  • Sure, more complex things will usually take longer. Your magnetic forces are still working and bringing circumstances together, but you must also go with your inner gut when it comes to your role.

Other things I’ve manifested either happened quickly or at least in a short period of time.

Let’s choose a vague example: Say I wanted a car. I know what it looks like, I’ve been to the dealership to see it, and to imagine myself driving it – you know, to help elevate my vibrations. But when manifesting it, can I say I’d like the car in the next 6 months to a year? Or do I have to let it work its way through the Universe?

  • Great question, and I like the way you worded it.
  • You absolutely can say when you’d like it.
  • Providing detail will bring it about sooner because you know what you want and your vibration is specific.
  • Now I do want to address something here that may seem contradictory… this is important.
  • It’s true that the more detail the better, BUT you must be sure you are in alignment with that much detail.
  • In other words, if you get too detailed, you will know it because you’ll feel discord and that is your indication that you are out of alignment and resisting your desire.
  • For example, let’s say you know what kind car, what color, and what engine package you want, and it feels really good to think about it, or more accurately to dream about it, then that level of detail is helpful.
  • Now let’s say you decide to go more detailed because you want it sooner. If you are having trouble with more detail, then don’t go there – go back to less detail. For instance, if you think about a particular option that you want but you are not sure your wife would want it, then you are not going to feel good when you think about that level of detail.
  • Don’t go that deep. It’s ok to get there and back off, but make sure you back off and feel good again.
  • And next week you may be feeling good about that level of detail, and then it’s fine to go deeper.
  • To apply this directly to your question, if you want your new car in 6 months, and the thought of it is uncomfortable because you are not sure if you’ll have the money, then that level of detail will resist your manifestation.
  • You’ll have to make these decisions based on what you are feeling when thinking about it and any given level. You may choose to set a time of 1 year, but if you really want it sooner, then that will evoke a negative emotion. In that case, just leave out the uncomfortable detail.
  • To bring this question to greater clarity, understand that if you are asking the question about how long manifestation takes, it is likely that you are focused on lack, and therefore resisting it altogether.

  • I am realizing based on questions I get from many people, that we are all in a different place in our understanding of the law of attraction and how laws of the universe work. It takes time, practice, and effort to make a change… but it all first starts with understanding.
  • I’ve been having a dialogue with a listener via email and the latest email asked several questions that I feel are better answered verbally and I decided to make this episode.
  • There are great questions here that I am going to answer and bring clarity to. And so I‘d like to thank this listener for her questions, not just these but all that we have been working on.
  • To give you context, her initial question was about how to manifest a specific person into her life.
  • I’m going to read you her latest email. I’ll provide additional context as we go along. First I’m going to read the whole, and then I’ll address each part.

Questions about the law of attraction

Hi Scott,

I waited two weeks like you said, and I have a few questions.

What types of vibrations are there? Are there only positive and negative ones? Or is there more too it than that?

I see the words ‘vibration’ and ‘alignment’ a lot when reading up on the law of attraction and I’m still not sure what it exactly means. Is it just the mood / vibe that you give off? If that’s what it is, then I’m quite confident in saying that the vibration I’m emitting is strong, as I’ve been trying a lot harder recently at putting myself in a positive state of mind.

Also, do you have any tips on how to overcome resistance? I feel that somewhere inside of me there is this resistance that I’m unaware of, especially as I do tend to hold onto things / memories and have a hard time letting thoughts go.

When you say ‘think about your desire’, would that be ( in my case ) thinking about my specific person alone, or instead visualising a scene where I’m with my specific person? I tend to subconsciously think about my specific person alone, but never really do I think about me WITH them. Is that a setback / block to my manifestation?

I think I’m struggling at the ‘visualising’. I’m very good at day dreaming. I day dream a lot, and I let my thoughts just run wild a lot of the time. But when it comes to visualising a specific scene in my head, that’s where I get distracted and find it hard to focus. I think it’s because it’s never happened in my physical reality, so it’s not like a memory where I can just look back and reminisce on it. Is that also a setback? If so, how do I make the scene in my head so clear that it actually feels like a memory? How do I focus more on the visualising?

How do I fix my relationship?

Hi Scott!

I am from the Philippines and I love listening to your podcast. I have been doing the law of attraction for so long on and off. On and off because sometimes I stop being aware of my feelings and I only start to realize it when things go against what I want, and then I start to control it back again.

Please, be patient with my message as English is not my first language J. Anyway, it has been easy for me to manifest money and career opportunities, with that, it’s so easy for me to generate the frequency I wanted in that part of my life.

However, when it comes to relationships, It has become a little bit of a struggle since it involves emotions connected to the person I am dealing with.

For example: my current relationship is with a guy who is very pessimistic and completely different from me. We have a child together so I consider him as my family or husband. But he himself doesn’t show that way to me. We stay in separate rooms, which is not my choice. And when he doesn’t want to be around me, he locks himself in his room. And when he feels like going out, he would (go out) without even telling me where he is going, or (even) if he is going out… I will just see his room empty. He is not supportive to my career, and doesn’t show interest with what I do with my life.

Before listening to your podcast we decided to be separated, but because of my desire to have a happy and complete family, I started recalling all the happy memories we had, (and) after a few days we decided to get back together and try again.

I told myself that I will only focus on the positive things in our relationship. But somehow whenever he does things that I don’t like, it gets hard for me to control my thoughts and emotions towards him. I get disappointed, and I start to question myself if I should really be here.

I know that I love him, and I really want a happy family and actual partner in life, who is supportive, sweet, kind and loves my company. I just hope he can be like that.

Is that possible if I focus on the positive? But how do I stop myself from being disappointed when he does things that I don’t like? And what train of thoughts should I think about when I start to feel self pity toward his treatment towards me?

I know I can’t change the person, but in this case it’s the treatment of the person toward me that I want to change. Please help me figure out what actions I should take for my desire to happen.
