Earlier today, I made biscuits to enjoy with my coffee. You know, the kind that come in a cylindrical package made of a type of cardboard? Opening that package is almost as fun as eating the biscuits!
Anyway,getting back to my point, I ate several delicious biscuits with my coffee, clearing my plate. Although I felt pretty good, I wanted to eat one more. I walked over to the stove, where I placed the cookie sheet to cool off, and where the rest of the biscuits remained, and decided I was going to eat one more. At that moment, I felt a light feeling within me that kind of just felt like eating one more would be too much. I am telling you this for a reason, so stay with me here.
My desire for one more biscuit was stronger than the feeling that it may be too much, and I could have easily made the decision to eat one more. But I didn’t… I stopped in my tracks to realize my awareness of that light feeling. This is how it works, and I am using this example because this was a real event that happened in real time.
As we learn about how the universe works, who we are, and the law of attraction, we often learn thinking that we need to apply this to the big stuff. But that would be a false premise. It’s the little things that comprise a great deal of our thoughts, and it’s the little things that add up to a big difference.
I often say that awareness is the first step to deliberate creation. Awareness of our feelings are everything, and we cannot guide our thoughts if we are not aware of them. We can always tell in the moment if our thoughts are serving us or not by our feelings. It would have been very easy for me to override the feeling that I should not eat one more biscuit, but instead I celebrated that my awareness is becoming keener every day. Yours will too when you begin to practice this stuff.
That faint little tiny feeling was the discord that was guiding me that my thoughts about eating the biscuit was not a good idea, as it was not in alignment with what my inner being was vibrating on the subject. Needless to say, I choose not to eat that biscuit (in spite of my desire to do so), and I did not get a stomach ache, and I continued to feel good!
The point that I am making here is extremely important. You must work on your awareness, notice what your feelings are indicating, and take the appropriate action. All three of these steps take practice.
