How Can I Remain Happy And Grateful So I Can Manifest?
- I received a letter from a listener seeking law of attraction advice
- She is asking questions about the law of attraction, manifesting if you are not happy, how to be grateful if your situation is not ideal, and other key law of attraction questions that apply to most of us
- This is a good episode, and it’s probably going to be a bit longer than usual as I am going to go through each aspect of her letter
- I am going to read her letter to you, and then address her questions as it applies to her, and may apply to many of you…
Law of Attraction Advice
Hi Scott,
I recently became exposed and started focusing on the practice of the law of attraction. It’s brought on a tremendous change in my overall attitude towards life. What I used to see as struggles and turmoil, I now view as opportunities and growth.
I started doing more research and looking for different podcasts, reading materials, and YouTube videos to kind of get different perspectives and a better understanding on some things. It’s a lot of the same information so it makes it a lot quicker to start working it into your daily life.
One thing I continue to see and hear is that you have to be happy in your current situation in order to begin manifesting. I understand it to an extent – being grateful will provide you with more things to be grateful for. My problem I’ve encountered is that the things I wish to manifest come from being unhappy in my current situation. It’s not that I’m miserable but I know that my current situation could be better so it’s frustrating when I realize I’m still in it. I’ve gotten a better attitude in dealing with my frustrations and I’m not as mad for as long. I just feel like it’s holding me back from really seeing my desires through to fruition.
I’ll give you a little insight to a current desire. I’m a 30 year old single mom with two kids who is living at home with my mom, siblings, and their kids. I am extremely grateful that I have the opportunity to live somewhere and have the help and love for my children. I’m thankful that my mom was blessed with a house large enough to keep all of us and allow me to focus on my personal goals for my family. However, I want to be able to provide that for my kids – a place that they feel loved, happy, and wanted with the pleasure of calling it their own. I want to give my kids the same role model I was given to look up to in a mom. But it seems like I run into road blocks – mortgages not quite the amount I would need, houses out of budget, or the availability of what I would need. With that being said, I wanted to ask for your advice in truly being grateful and thankful in your current situation without bringing on a negative vibration.
It’s hard for me to understand that someone happy in their current situation would want to bring on any change without thinking their current situation is subpar, which I think would be more on the negative vibrational side. Is this something that’s normal to feel? Is it blocking my breakthrough? Any advice or information would be greatly appreciated. I thank you for sharing the information on the law of attraction and look forward to continue hearing from you.

- Let’s take a look at this one piece at a time
- The first paragraph…

- That’s really awesome Amanda
- The feeling that you have, that change in attitude, is the reflection of your new point of attraction
- You can feel it, and that’s the whole point… your feelings are always a reflection of your vibrational perspective (that’s your point of attraction)
- I do want to clarify something for those just getting started
- We don’t practice the law of attraction… the law of attraction just is
- All universal laws exist unconditionally, all the time
- For example, the law of gravity is a universal law
- We don’t turn gravity on or off… it’s always on
- If you walk past the edge of a building, gravity is going to pull you down every time
- Likewise, the law of attraction, which says “that which is like itself is drawn”, is always on
- We don’t practice the law of attraction, we become aware of it
- With our awareness, we can choose what to think about, therefore we are choosing what we vibrate, and therefore manifest
- I just want to mention that choosing thoughts is simple in concept, but it takes a great deal of practice and effort to become proficient (you need to know this so you don’t become frustrated)
- We tend to automatically think about what we see, what we hear on the news or on the Internet, or what is already going on in our lives
- It is not easy to choose to think about our true desires and dreams instead of what’s happening
- But when you do, those dreams and desires must come… it is law
- Let’s move on to the next paragraph…

- What you are seeing is consistency in what others are saying about the law of attraction.
- I think it is wise to check out the perspectives of other people… it works for me to help bring clarity
- The next paragraph gets into some meatier stuff…

- You say you heard that you have to be happy to begin manifesting
- Let me restate that you are always manifesting
- What you are referring to is deliberate manifestation, as opposed to manifesting by default
- The way it works, is that you attract more vibrations that are matching what you are already vibrating
- If you are happy, you will attract other happy vibrations adding to your initial vibration and making it bigger, so to speak
- Now you are vibrating even happier, and that in turn attraction more vibrations that are at that happier level, and it continues from there
- Keep it up, and you will begin to see the manifestational results
- You’ll see something in a magazine that your were looking for, or you’ll get a call out of the blue from someone who can help you get what you want
- The universe coordinates all kinds of cooperative components to help you get what you want
- You too will unknowingly become a cooperative component to helping others, and as long as you stay in alignment, you will only be a cooperative component in ways that support you
- Now, the same holds true if you are not happy
- If you are thinking about something that makes you unhappy, then you are indeed attracting more of it
- It is easier (much easier) to think about what you have instead of what you want
- That is why I say you have to put in work and effort
- Once you are predominantly living what you do want and desire, it becomes much easier to keep it that way, because it is easier to think about what you have
- So to answer this Amanda, you do have to be vibrating happiness to attract happiness
- But please don’t fret, there are things you can do to make it happen
- It’s not that you have to figure out how to get the current situation to make you happy… you have to figure out how to find happiness while you are in the current situation
- There is a huge difference in that
- For example, let’s say that you are having problems with your next door neighbor
- Let’s say they are noisy, and inconsiderate, and every time you think about them, it makes your blood boil
- Now, it’s your work to find happiness so you can get your vibration into alignment
- Thinking about all the noise and the people they constantly have over is not going to make you feel better… do not think about that
- When you find yourself thinking about that (and you will know by the negative feelings, such as frustration and anger), you have to be aware that you are feeling the negative emotions, and deliberately find something better to think about
- Here’s what you can do… choose to find things about your neighbor that will feel good when you think them. For instance…
- Their house looks good, and they always take care of their lawn and hedges
- Their children are always well-behaved
- They seem like nice people, maybe I would like them if I got to know them
- When you find the positive aspects, you will find yourself feeling better (an indication of your change of vibration)
- You also mentioned that the problem you have encountered is that the things you wish to manifest come from being unhappy in your current situation
- Every desire comes from a contrast
- Your awareness is actually how it works for everyone
- You cannot know what you want until you experience either the opposite, where your desire is born, or by experiencing something nice, and realizing you don’t have it
- There has to be a contrast for a desire to be born
- What you see as your problem is actually a very good thing
- Try to take on the perspective that you must experience contrast in order to want
- This new perspective will help you realize that you needed to go through it, thereby not seeing it as a problem
- When you launch a new desire, your inner being (your non-physical self) has instantly expanded to the vibration of your new desire
- You feel wonderful at the moment you have that new desire, but once you shift your thoughts and attention to not having it, then your vibration also shifts to the lack of your desire… and that will be indicated by a negative emotion such as frustration, discouragement, or anger
- When you realize you are frustrated, it’s time to say hey, I’m frustrated and that is a negative emotion… I need to shift my attention to what I do want.
- So ask yourself, what is it that I do want?
- Then ask yourself why you want it, because that will help bring out the positive thoughts and emotions, hence the change in vibration
- I do this out loud because I find it more effective, but you can do it any way you want as long as you shift to a better feeling thought
- I hope this is making some sense
- Let’s move on to the next paragraph

- You say you are grateful and thankful, yet in almost the same breath, you say “however”…
- I am not doubting your gratitude or thankfulness, but you are also turning your attention to lack
- Your roadblocks are self-induced because your attention is on lack more than it is on your desire or on gratitude
- You cannot feel the positive emotion of gratitude and feel the negative emotion of frustration at the same time
- I get that you may go back and forth at times, but just know that the dominant vibration wins
- Your work is to pay attention to your thoughts… actually, pay attention to your feelings… when you are feeling negative emotions, your thoughts are on the lack of your desire instead of your desire in all its’ wonder
- So pay attention, and find better feeling thoughts when you feel discord
- Right now you are thinking more of what you do not want
- With practice, you will eventually be thinking more of what you do want
- You will then see manifestational results beginning to take form
- The answer to your question, about asking advice in being grateful and thankful while in a not so ideal situation is this…
- Think about the positive aspects of your current living situation (there are many)
- You will feel the gratitude when you are focused on the positive aspects
- As you go on through your day, pay attention to your feelings
- When you realize you slipped back to a negative vibration (indicated through your emotions), then stop what you are doing and find better feeling thoughts until you have moved your vibration (your point of attraction) to a better place
- So really, don’t try to avoid a negative vibration… trying to do so will put your attention on it, and thereby bring it to you (that can never work)
- Just be aware of it, and gently move it to a better place
- It is going to take work
- Once your dominant vibrations are positive, it will become easy (or at least much easier)
- And on to the last paragraph…
It’s hard for me to understand that someone happy in their current situation would want to bring on any change without thinking their current situation is subpar, which I think would be more on the negative vibrational side. - Change is constant
- We are ever expanding beings in an ever expanding universe
- If you don’t see change, it only means that you are changing to the same thing over and over again – because your attention is on the same things
- We cannot cease to expand, when we have a desire and achieve it, a new contrast exists, and a new desire is born
- If you find it hard to believe a happy person would want change, it’s only because of your perception of change
- Somehow, you believe that you have to be dissatisfied to want something different, but that’s just not how it works
- A situation never has to be subpar for a desire to be born
- Let me give you an example…
- Let’s say you shift your thoughts from “houses out of budget” (lack) to how nice it will be to be living in your own home
- And soon thereafter, you are living in your own beautiful home
- And so now you live happily ever after, yes?
- I think not!
- But that’s a good thing
- And so you visit a neighbor who has a beautiful pool
- You realize you don’t have a pool (contrast), and you now want one
- A new desire is born
- It was born out of happiness, gratitude, and love for life – nothing subpar
- Just be aware that we can’t help but expand, so go with it!
- It was not a choice to suddenly want a pool, you just expanded, which is how the universe works
- It is your choice to think about the delight of having your pool, and then it will come to you
- If you choose to resist, you will feel a negative emotion… such as guilt (why should I have a pool when so many people are suffering?)
- Always go with your expanded desire
- And finally you ask if that is something that is normal to feel
- Feelings are just indicators of your point of attraction… be grateful that you have them
- This is not a question of normal or not normal
- If you feel any negative emotion, it is not serving you and is actually holding you apart from something that you desire (and deserve)
- Just pay attention to those feelings, and shift your thoughts until you feel good (or at least better)
- And in regard to your breakthrough, the breakthrough is in your beliefs
- Once your beliefs shift, the breakthrough has happened
- Keep practicing the shifting of your thoughts
- They will become more dominant and you will begin to see results
- Your beliefs will shift
- Your manifestations will come
